Cut Copy – In Ghost Colours: #641 of best 1,000 albums ever!

Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours

So why is Cut Copy’s In Ghost Colours on this best 1,000 albums ever thing?

More than most albums I can think of, including those on this here best 1,000 albums ever project, In Ghost Colours conjures a super specific mood

With its multilayered soundscape, lush overlapping sounds, and expert production, you feel like Cut Copy has conjured the feeling of being at an incredible party, falling in love for the first time, or even getting your heart broken in the span of a moment, perhaps.

It makes you feel something, which is the best thing that music and art can hope to aspire to.

And the feeling on “Feel the Love” is swirling, like dancing in a club or at a venue with people who are all in a good mood, dizzying in the best possible.

“Lights & Music” continues on the same theme, except it’s now perhaps a little bit later, the party’s going a little bit harder. Maybe you’re even sweating a little bit, but it’s fine because so is everyone else. And you’ve deodorized up anyway, right?

And then “Hearts On Fire” is the party at its peak, right before Last Call, right before you transition back to Real Life.

And for that brief moment, In Ghost Colours makes Real Life Mode feel like an afterthought.

A lyrical snippet from Cut Copy’s In Ghost Colours that’s evocative of the album in some way, maybe

Could this be true? It all comes down to you.

What does the “best 1,000 albums ever” mean and why are you doing this?

Yeah, I know it’s audacious, a little crazy (okay, maybe a lot cray cray), bordering on criminal nerdery.

But here’s what it’s NOT: a definitive list of the Greatest Albums of All-Time. This is 100% my own personal super biased, incredibly subjective review of what my top 1,000 albums are, ranked in painstaking order over the course of doing research for nearly a year, Rob from High Fidelity style.
