“That’s your plan? A magical witch potion with no expiration date?” – Damon
We continue right where we left off last week with Damon still upset about Elena’s choice. Elijah fills Stefan and Damon in on the curse of Klaus and how he can be stopped. Elijah tells them that Klaus needs to drink Elena’s blood for the sacrifice and he shows them an elixir that he thinks can save Elena. He also tells him that Klaus needs a werewolf too and probably will have one by the end of the evening.
At the Lockwood’s, Tyler’s mom leaves a voicemail for Tyler asking him to come home because of an accident she had. The problem is there is no accident until Klaus’ witch pushes her down the stairs. Tyler is the werewolf that Klaus needs and his mom is the one to bring him back to town. Tyler takes the bait and goes to see his mom. As he leaves the hospital with Jules, he runs into Caroline. While they are talking, they are ambushed by Klaus’ witches and are taken away.
Alaric shows up at the house with Jenna pointing a bow at him. She asks him a question to prove that it is him and he answers correctly. He tells them that Klaus intends to do the sacrifice that night, but Alaric doesn’t know anything else. He and Jenna have a good reunion. It is nice to have Jenna in the loop and Alaric back as himself.
Elena goes to tell Damon this is her choice and when she leaves he forces her to drink his blood. Stefan stops him and Damon tells him that he wants to protect her, even if she comes back as a vampire. Damon and Stefan get into a fight with Damon ending it by stabbing Stefan. I know that Damon loves Elena, but this was selfish of him. She probably doesn’t want to become a vampire, but Damon makes this choice for her.
Elijah tells Damon the elixir is now useless because of the vampire blood inside of Elena. He warns Damon that Elena would never forgive him. Stefan is okay after drinking some blood, but the damage has been done. Thinking it might be her last night alive or as a human, Stefan takes Elena to watch the sunset. She admits to him that she doesn’t want to be a vampire.
Damon gets Katherine to tell him where Caroline and Tyler are at. Klaus has them in the tomb and is planning to use them for the sacrifice. Damon goes to look for them, but a witch is waiting for him. He subdues Damon, but Matt comes to the rescue and shoots the witch. Damon in turn knocks him out and rescues both Caroline and Tyler (funny how when he rescues them it is daylight, but it is dark when they come out of the tomb). The full moon is out and Tyler feels his change coming on.
Klaus is waiting for Elena when she and Stefan get back to the house. Elena and Stefan have a tearful goodbye and she goes with Klaus. Stefan calls Damon to warn him that Klaus already took Elena even though Damon rescued everybody else. Tyler starts to change and Damon stops him from hurting Caroline.
Damon goes to Klaus to talk and Klaus shows Damon that he has Jules. Klaus tells Damon that he always has a back-up with Jules as his werewolf and he already has another witch, who happens to be Luka’s sister. When Damon guesses he has a back-up vampire, Klaus agrees and pounces on him. When he wakes up though, Katherine admitted that she had called someone else to be Klaus’ vampire. While they are talking, Damon discovers a werewolf bite on his arm. When Elena goes to the forest for the ritual, she finds Jenna dead. Jenna pops up though and the witch tells Elena that Jenna isn’t dead but is in transition.
I felt like this episode was the calm before the storm. One thing I was wondering while watching was where Jeremy and Bonnie were at while this stuff is going down. I thought they were supposed to be helping. Hopefully they will come save the day next episode! I was disappointed by the ending because I like the character of Jenna and don’t want to see her as a vampire. This show has a history of killing off some good characters, like Anna, and I know they are going to do this again by the end of the season. The three mains will stay but I fear that Jenna, Bonnie, Jeremy and Alaric are in danger.
