The chefs go for the gold.
Ramsay announces the next dinner service will be the 50th Anniversary Dinner for a couple celebrating their fiftieth. For the challenge, the chefs have 30 minutes to create updated versions of their wedding dinner menu comprised of Chicken Kiev, Steak Diane, and Trout Almondine.
In the kitchen, Sal suggests Chicken Kiev meatballs. Jay says okay but Autumn is worried and rightly so as Sal has trouble cooking them. The Red team is working well under Benjamin who leads without being bossy. For the Steak Diane Nilka misses a lot of ingredients. Ed incorporates them and earns a win for the Blue team. For the Chicken Kiev, Ramsay is surprised to see chicken meatballs when Autumn lifts top. Ramsay finds one too pink and Holli gets the win. Trout Almondine then became the tie breaker. The couple is split on their favorite between Jay and Benjamin. Ramsay breaks the tie and Red ends their long losing streak.
The prize is a trip to a ’50s diner, a sharp contrast to the fine dining they deal with typically. While there Benjamin sees scantily clad waitresses at the diner and makes a comment about his wife not liking him checking them out. A hula-hoop contest is held and Siobahn finds something she’s good at finally.
Blue’s punishment finds them decorating the room and making the cake. Jay says he’d rather be picking trash in the woods. Jay is also annoyed with how much Autumn talks but in a possible bit of karma cuts himself opening oysters. He feels light-headed from loss of blood but returns to the kitchen.
Ramsay decides Steak Diane will be served tableside by Nilka and Ed. Nilka gets the guests of honor and does well, redeeming her earlier performance. As she cooks, maître d’ Jean-Philippe teases her about where the French items are from but she has no idea.
Appetizers fly out until Benjamin stumbles on the crab cakes. He brings to the pass some that were alternatively raw and burnt. He loses some luster in the ladies’ eyes and refuses their help. Garnish is tough. Sal gets confused repeatedly. Fran gives Ramsay a hot pan of undrained potatoes. Holli has her own issues on the meat station sending up raw chicken and overdone duck.
Ramsay gives his review, pointing out the problems shown by Fran and Holli. He asks Sal to rate himself out of ten, who says “four or five.” Ramsay tells him he’s three over and very generous. Red Team loses the service and has to pick two nominees. They decide on Fran and Holli, but after Ben, Nilka, and Holli talk to the Blue team, who asks whom the worst cook is, the trio rethink things. Odd that the Blue team would be helping the Red team at this stage of the game. Benjamin tells Siobahn she’s not as good a cook as Holli and wants her out.
Down in the dining room, Ramsay asks Holli who the nominees are. She says Fran, who he agrees with. The second is Siobahn. Even though she had a good service, the rest don’t think she has skills. He says it’s a tough choice and then dramatically calls Fran’s name, only to send her back in line. In a good but not unexpected twist Ramsay tells Siobahn to go back as well because though Red team lost he decides the worst service was by Salvatore and sends him packing. Salvatore acknowledges it was right call.
In the interviews Siobhan is angry and is “going to show people” while Benjamin thinks his team is still in bad shape since a trashcan would be a better cook then Siobahn and Fran.
