True Blood, “You Smell Like Dinner”: I can eat who I want

True Blood - You Smell Like Dinner

Let’s check in with everyone in the gang, vamps and humans and others alike.

This second episode of the new season was much better than the first and I am anxious for the Sookie/Eric storyline to be underway. It will be interesting to see how Alexander Skarsgard will transition from a pushy bad-ass vampire to a helpless vampire. He and Anna Paquin have good chemistry so I am definitely looking forward to more scenes of them together. Best line of the night goes to Pam when Sookie tells her she won’t be Eric’s puppet — she responds with, “Shame for you then. He pulls good string.” And next week, Alcide is back! He is one of my favorite characters so his presence will be welcomed.

Here is a quick take on “You Smell Like Dinner,” which picked up right where the season premiere left off.

Sookie — She is not happy to learn that Eric has bought her house and he wants her to be his in order to protect her. Sookie looks to Bill for help and learns he is now the King of Louisiana. Bill tells Sookie he will try his best and she should find someone else’s home to stay in for now. She wants to know how he became king but changes her mind when she realizes that she always ends up regretting knowing the things that she learns about Bill. Sookie comes home to find Tara, then a new microwave from Eric and she learns that he has even built himself a hidey hole to sleep in. She gets angry and goes to Pam for help. After Pam refuses, she drives home to find Eric walking on the side of the road. She stops to talk to him but he has no idea who she is.

Jason — Now a captive of Felton and Crystal, Jason learns that they want to turn him into a were-panther just like themselves in order for Crystal to procreate. He is almost discovered by Andy, but all the latter wanted from the residents of Hot Shot was some more V. Felton sends Andy on his way with what he is after and as soon as he leaves, Crystal and Felton shift into panthers to bite Jason.

Bill — A flashback reveals that Bill had met Nan Flanagan in the ’80s and this is when she recruited him to help the vampire’s come out into the human world. It is also revealed that Bill helped Nan get rid of Sophie-Ann in exchange for being king. It seems like Bill has moved on from Sookie by sleeping with the witch who spied on the coven in Bon Temps for him, but he tells Sookie he will try to help her along with Eric. When Eric comes to visit him, he tells him to leave Sookie alone and wants Eric to look into the witch coven that has been having meetings. Bill thinks that if Marnie can control a dead bird then it is possible she could control a vampire.

Eric — There is no stopping Eric from keeping Sookie’s house or from trying to stop the witches from convening. Eric attempts to threaten Marnie, but after he bites her the trouble begins when she casts a spell and he loses his memory.

Tara — She came back to Bon Temps to see Sookie, but ends up being taken to the coven meeting with Lafayette and Jesus. Tara loses interest in the meeting when Marnie announces they are going to resurrect and human being so Tara waits outside for Lafayette. When Eric tries to attack people, she steps in, but he over powers her. She is let go though after Marnie intervenes.

Jessica/Hoyt – These two are still having problems and Hoyt ends up getting into a fight outside Fangtasia for defending Jessica. When they are at home, Hoyt is nursing his injuries and Jessica decides to go to the store to get some medicine. She ends up going back to Fangtasia and finds the man who had tempted her the night before. She drinks from him in the bathroom and even when Sookie tries to intervene by defending Hoyt, there is no stopping Jessica from giving in to temptation.

Sam — He likes to run with the other shifters and has an interest in Luna. When they are telling each other what the craziest animal they have shifted in to, Luna admits she has been able to shift into another human. Sam is not bothered by this and continues to pursue Luna.
