Your Friends & Neighbors is a really good hang (and will be around for at least two more seasons)

Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2

Your Friends & Neighbors is the relatively rare kind of TV show where I’m confident I’ll stick with it no matter what it throws at us.

Another way to frame it: it’s a great hangout show. Season 1 quickly established itself as a show we can kick back and enjoy, safe in the assumption we’re in good hands.

I often talk about TV shows that “know what they are,” and YF&N is certainly one of those. While there are themes bubbling underneath its surface that speak to wealth disparity and late-stage capitalism, first and foremost it’s a fun show featuring Jon Hamm as a formerly rich and powerful dude who takes on robbing his obscenely wealthy neighbors as his second act.

The entire cast is spot on, but let’s start with Hamm, who is clearly having the time of his life playing Andrew “Coop” Cooper. For me, it’s already his second best role, even accounting for his brilliantly dark (yet fun!) turn in “White Christmas,” my number one Black Mirror episode ahead of Season 8’s release.

We don’t need to touch on Hamm’s all-time best role here, yes? But you can find out where that show landed on Pop Thruster’s best 100 TV shows ever.

Amanda Peet, who plays Coop’s ex, Mel, and Hoon Lee as guy pal Barney Choi are both actors who I’ll watch in anything. Peet seems to just get better over the years, and I’ve adored her in shows ranging from Togetherness to Brockmire. And, yes, she holds a special place in my heart thanks to Saving Silverman.

I’m less familiar with Lee’s overall body of work, but he’s kickass and awesome as Job in Banshee (awesome/kickass itself), so thus when he pops up in other things I allow myself to exclaim hell yeah about it.

With Season 2, James Marsden joins the Your Friends & Neighbors cast, which feels like a smart and timely addition. I’ve enjoyed Marsden in shows ranging from the latest TV adaptation of The Stand (he held his own as Stu Redman, an iconic role for Stephen King heads), and I thoroughly enjoyed him as a maniac version of himself on the wacko experiment called Jury Duty from a few years ago.

Speaking of YF&N Season 2, here’s the official trailer.

We can clearly see that Marsden’s character is going to be a foil for Coop, and I’m looking forward to the two going at it.

And, what’s more, Apple TV has already renewed YF&N for a third season, so we can look forward to neighborhood misadventures for some time to come.

Your Friends & Neighbors Season 2 premieres on Apple TV on April 3rd, 2026.
