Sprint is a new sports docuseries on Netflix. What’s it about?
What must it feel like to know you’re one of the fastest humans on the planet?
This question played around in my mind when one of the worldclass sprinters in the Sprint docuseries trailer says, “If you don’t have main character energy, track and field ain’t for you.”
Welcome to Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans, a new Netflix docuseries that shows us that trying to outrun the fastest feet in the world for 100 meters is not for the faint of heart.
Some other highlights from the Sprint trailer:
- “Ever since Usain Bolt retired, who is going to be that next 100-meter champion?”
- “Who says you can’t be sexy on the track?”
- “There is no crown heavier than the Olympic 100-meter gold medal.”
Here’s the official Netflix description:
With Usain Bolt retired, who will be the new face of speed? From Sha’Carri Richardson to Noah Lyles, for the very first time we will tell the full story of man and woman’s desire to be the fastest person on the planet. Witness the intense drama, motivation, and personalities behind the relentless pursuit of victory that is compressed into a few heart-stopping seconds.
The people featured on Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans include Noah Lyles, Sha’Carri Ricardson, and Shericka Jackson.
Stuff that has something to do with Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans
I worked for Getty Images some years ago, and while I was there we produced a special website that highlighted the best photos of the year, a digital companion to the company’s annual Year in Focus book.
That year happened to be the one that a Getty photographer (Cameron Spencer) caught the iconic image of Usain Bolt smiling as he pulled away from the pack while on his way to winning a race during the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
So while working on that website, we featured that image – one of the most obvious moves we could have made! – and I spent a lot of time looking at it and thinking about that moment during that project.
So for that reason alone, I’m looking forward to checking out the Sprint docuseries.
Sprint: The World’s Fastest Humans when and where can I watch it?
