“Jimmy T is being Jimmy T. He is a loudmouth; he just has to hear his own voice 24/7.” – Marty
Espada became a different tribe after letting ex-NFL coach Jimmy Johnson go last week. Their leader was gone and it was time for someone else to step up. The group knew this and also realized that they had to win the next challenge since they were running out of food and could benefit from reward.
Jimmy T. turned out to be all talk and no action. He kept claiming he was a leader, but wasn’t sure about accepting the position. In the end they decided to go with Tyrone as leader for the challenge.
On the younger tribe, Brenda and Na Onka continued their quest for the hidden immunity idol. The girls figured out the clues and when they found the idol, Na Onka immediately decided that it was all hers. Alina and Kelly B. didn’t realize that the other ladies had found the idol so they decided to look for it. It resulted in a confrontation between Na Onka and Kelly B, with NaOnka continuing her obsession with Kelly B’s artificial leg.
It is hard to understand what Na Onka has against Kelly B. Like Jeff Probst said in his blog last week, this woman is frustrating! The scene last week where she pushed Kelly B. down was very cringe worthy. You don’t push a handicapped person down, no matter what is in the basket! It is a game, but that was downright cruel. Unfortunately, Na Onka now has the power to keep herself in the game longer than she needs to be.
For the challenge, the groups had to be blindfolded while attempting to retrieve their reward items, which consisted of chairs, blankets, fishing poles and a tarp. The older tribe definitely had some listening issues and a few of them had trouble finding their way to the items with Tyrone’s directions. The younger tribe was very organized, but they also used the Medallion of Power to their advantage in the challenge. La Flor prevailed, winning immunity and reward. After the challenge, La Flor went back to camp and Chase found an idol clue in a tackle box. Brenda decided to trust Chase and tell him that she and Na Onka found the idol.
Back at the Espada camp, the group tried to come up with reasons why they didn’t win, but there really wasn’t a good excuse. Jimmy T. talked some more and tried to explain that they could have done better if he had been the leader. Marty went around the tribe with the goal of getting Jimmy T. voted off and of course Jill issued her opinion of “whatever.” This answer is always frustrating: you should care! It matters who goes home. What is she going to do when they want to vote her off, give up and say “whatever?” Some of the other women wanted to let Dan go due to his knee problems, but Marty had an agenda to rid the tribe of Jimmy T. and kept pushing.
At tribal council, the tribe talked about their issues with leadership. Marty made an interesting comment about not being able to get better leadership than Jimmy Johnson and the question of “why did you vote him off then?” immediately came to mind. Dan did admit that he has problems with his knee, but didn’t want to go home. Jimmy T. tried to convince people he was valuable to the tribe, but in the end it wasn’t enough. It seemed like all he wanted was a chance, but his talking ruined that chance for him. With Jimmy T. gone, the older tribe might have a better chance now. He had the most trouble listening in the challenge and was just plain obnoxious.
