It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, “Storm of the Century”: rickety cricket

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Storm of the Century

“You two have boyfriends? How did you not know that the reason I invited you back to my bar was to bang you? Get outta here! Get the hell out of here! Shoo away from me!” – Dennis

A hurricane is sweeping across the east coast, and the Gang is preparing for the worst storm Philly has never seen. Mac, Dennis, and Charlie run over to the All American Home Center in order to resupply their closet-bunker underneath the bar, while Dee and Frank prepare the bar for looters by boarding up the windows and doors. If only they knew, it’s perpetually luminous in the largest city in Pennsylvania, and there are more sunny spots than hurricane clouds on the horizon.

A bunker to repopulate the human race
Instead of taking Mac’s advice to go to the Poconos (you’re closer to the storm when higher up), the Gang decides to utilize the bunker-closet beneath the bar that Dee had the guys make for the Y2K scare. Charlie is convinced that the looming storm is a sign of the end of days, and his overzealous preparation impedes Dennis’ ploy to bring a couple of girls back to the bar for a hurricane party – well, that, and the fact that they already had boyfriends. When Dennis spots the voluptuous reporter Jackie Denardo, Charlie’s fears get to him and his confidence shatters – like the store’s front windows when Cricket drives a car through it.

Treating Cricket like a dog
David Hornsby returns to the show for the first time this season, reprising his role as the priest-turned-hobo, “rickety” Cricket. Frank shoots Cricket through the hand when he catches him in the bunker-closet after the power goes out in the bar. Dee and Frank convince him to go to the hospital – even volunteering to drive – but when they make a detour to pick up Dennis and Charlie, Cricket gets left in the car with the keys. When he crashes into the store, Frank and Dee incite everyone to start looting, even though the storm has been downgraded to a “light drizzle.”

Fat Mac’s reaching max fatness
Maybe it’s the way that he rests his arms so comfortably on the bulk of belly, or the separation anxiety he gets when he’s away from food for too long, but something tells me that the Gang won’t be able to deal with Mac’s rotund new lifestyle for much longer – especially after taking their cash and ditching them for an entirely unnecessary 3D television.
