Alien Encounters: Fact or Fiction “considers the evidence” of alien phenomena in Roswell, New Mexico

Alien Encounters - Fact or Fiction

It’s pretty easy to figure out what new Discovery Channel docuseries Alien Encounters: Fact or Fiction is all about from watching the trailer.

Or is it?

We see a sign that announces, “Welcome to Roswell,” and then a woman tell us, “I was abducted by aliens seven times since 1984.”

“Everyone has a story, and this is the town that UFOs built,” a voiceover then announces.

“I’m here to hear firsthand accounts,” a guy who is presumably the host of the show then says, “consider the evidence. At that point, I’ll render a verdict.”

No word on who the jury might be in this case of Alien Encounters: Fact of Fiction adjudication, but at least we’ve got a self-appointed judge, people.

Another woman then tells us, “I’m a journalist, I’m an investigator. The most important thing to me is facts. And then this is emphasized by showing her sliding pieces of paper around a table.

Then another guy – who the investigator lady seemed to be meeting with at like a sports bar table (for “reasons,” presumably) tells us, “I feels like it’s simple, I feel like the data is wrong.”

Then the “consider the evidence” guy tells us, “You never know who’s going to walk in the front door in Roswell, New Mexico.”

And it’s at this point during the Alien Encounters: Fact or Fiction trailer where I’m actively wondering, who are these people investigating these things and feeling like the data is wrong and shuffling paper around a table in what looks like a pretty okay sports bar if you’re into that sort of thing?

No, I’m not wondering if they’re aliens (though who knows, according to the logic we’ve been presented with), but just more like what the [redacted] is going on.

But I invite you to find out for yourselves!

More information about Alien Encounters: Fact or Fiction

According to The Futon Critic – a trust resource after all these years still – two of the people in the Alien Encounters: Fact or Fiction trailer appear to be Mitch Horowitz and Chrissy Newton.

Further, the Discovery Channel press release tell us:

With reports of UAPs (unexplained aerial phenomena) on the rise, UFO experts Mitch Horowitz and Chrissy Newton use scientific data and research to dissect real life encounters with extraterrestrial activity and determine whether or not they can be explained. Posting up at a local watering hole in Roswell, New Mexico, a town infamous for its UFO past, Horowitz and Newton meet with individuals who have experienced strange and unexplainable encounters.
