Perhaps it’s by nature that I’m getting.., let’s say more mature in years, or maybe it’s that a certain kind of music being produced today isn’t something I’m consuming much of, or it’s those things and that I’m not German.
So for those reasons I freely admit that I had no idea who Bill and Tom Kaulitz were until I watched the Kaulitz & Kaulitz trailer.
Let’s take a step: I will wildly admit that I had to do some light Internet sleuthing to figure out that Bill Kaulitz and Tom Kaulitz form the “German music band,” Tokio Hotel. And I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed sampling their mix of synth-y indie/pop/rock songs on Spotify, performed in a mix of English and German.
Here’s more from Wikipedia:
Tokio Hotel is a German music band formed in 2001 by singer Bill Kaulitz, guitarist Tom Kaulitz, bassist Georg Listing, and drummer Gustav Schäfer.[7] Starting from the foundation, the band’s music genres were pop rock and alternative rock; since 2014, the band began to perform electropop and synth-pop.
Kaulitz & Kaulitz the reality docuseries then offers us the following:
Twin brothers and superstars Tom and Bill Kaulitz offer a glimpse into their private lives in LA and Germany in this funny and intimate reality series.
What’s striking right away from the Kaulitz & Kaulitz is how personable, affable, and comfortable both Bill and Tom are on camera.
We also learn from the trailer that not only are Bill and Tom brothers, but they’re twins.
Other fun bits from the Kaulitz & Kaulitz trailer include:
- One of the Kaulitz boys donning some super 1980s looking gear and proclaiming: “I’m MC Kaulitz, I live in Hollywood.”
- Multiple times where they say rock, paper, scissors in unison and in German. This kind of cracks me up.
The proceedings will also take on some more serious notes, such as where we see a newspaper headline that reads, “Bill Kaulitz kisses male model,” and then we hear Bill saying, “I had to keep my sexual identity secret for many years.”
And then… there’s a device shown that looks like it was taken directly from Sacha Baron Cohen’s Brüno, and I’ll just leave it at that.
Overall, Kaulitz and Kaulitz is absolutely a reality show that I would check out even without having any background on their music or careers.
Kaulitz & Kaulitz: when and where can I watch it?
