“Teen obesity kicks ass!” – Butt-Head
I’m loving the way the new Beavis and Butt-Head is slowly re-immersing the audience into the show’s world. In every episode, we are reintroduced to a character or a scenario from the show’s original run. In the the premiere, “Werewolves of Highland/Crying,” we meet Mr. Van Driessen, Coach Buzzcut, and Stewart. “Daughter’s Hand/Tech Support” brings back the beloved Mr. Anderson. “Holy Cornholio” features the return of Beavis’ hyperactive alter-ego. Last night’s “Supersize Me/Bathroom Break” takes us back to Burger World, the dynamic duo’s place of employment.
In “Supersize Me,” Beavis and Butt-Head hatch a scheme to accomplish a goal near and dear to every teenage boy’s heart: “Get famous and get chicks.” The plan is to eat at Burger World every day for a month, like “that Morgan Sherlock dude.” ‘Cuz ya know when chicks think of famous sex symbols, Morgan Spurlock is the first name that comes to mind.
With encouragement from Mr. Van Driessen, the boys stick to their diet and gain an ungodly amount of weight. The CEO of Burger World stumbles across a video of Beavis and Butt-Head stuffing their faces and commenting about how fattening the food is. He springs into action and presents the guys with a lifetime supply of gift certificates to a competitor, Taco Yummo, in order to deflect attention away from Burger World.
Butt-Head discovers one of life’s greatest joys in “Bathroom Break”: If you go to the bathroom while on the clock at work, you are technically “getting paid to take a dump.” He and Beavis spend all day in the restroom, lounging around and eating French fries off the toilet seat. A crowd of hungry customers accumulates in front of the cash register. When the Burger World boss rips into Beavis and Butt-Head from neglecting their duties, a labor lawyer stands up for their bathroom-related rights. A series of unfortunate events unfolds for the manager, culminating in him getting arrested for indecent exposure.
Both of the mini-episodes were very good this week, although the TV watching scenes were a bit sub-par. At first, I really liked when the guys would rip into MTV shows like Jersey Shore, but at this point it is beginning to get a tad repetitive. There was one bright spot during the Jersey Shore riffing, however. Beavis fills us in on the requirements for his ideal woman: She has to have at least one boob, she has to be a girl, and she can’t be his mom. Butt-Head’s requirements are the same, minus the part about not being Beavis’ mom.
