“Maybe I’m part of a new species that lives for hundreds of years, so I’m basically still a toddler.” – Sheldon
Sheldon’s mom is in town, and he wants her to act like his mom by making him fried chicken and pecan pies and not doing anything she wants to do. When she decides to go sightseeing with the guys and Penny instead, he goes off on his own, has a terrible time, gets caught in the rain, catches a cold, and still doesn’t realize that he’s being ridiculous. She tries to get him to see that he’s a full-grown man now and they have to have a new relationship, but Sheldon is Sheldon and he’s not getting it.
A pretty straight forward episode, not too complicated, and everyone but Bernadette gets to be in it. The real star of this episode, however, is Laurie Metcalf as Mrs. Cooper — almost everything she said was racist, ignorant, painfully old-fashioned, or hopelessly southern, and it was hilarious. There’s piles of quotes below for you to peruse.
They’re still bringing up that Raj is lonely without doing much about it, and they’re still pointing out that Sheldon is emotionally stalled without making him get past it, but overall this was a really entertaining episode. I don’t know how it could avoid it with Sheldon’s mom around, and how very different she is from Sheldon.
