The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: hauling junk

The Millionaire Matchmaker - Omar & Nick

“I’m a professional, you need to trust me, okay? Otherwise, you’re gonna point your pecker in the wrong direction.” – Patti

The above quote is of course from the Millionaire Matchmaker herself, Patti Stanger, and with that we’re whisked back into the fanciful-meets-brutish world of slapping wealthy clients together with beautiful people who just happen to be looking for love (who happen to be super, insanely rich, preferably).

Check out our full and snark-tastic Millionaire Matchmaker episode guide and updates! Trash and treasure in equal increments, we promise.

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: around the office

We learn that Patti is engaged to Andy and is excited to have a “very modern, very contemporary” wedding. She’s tempted to simply elope in Las Vegas because of how old she sees herself, but explains that Andy wants “the big wedding.”

Meanwhile, we learn that office staffers Destin and Rachel are also engaged, and have just had a baby together named Sin Halo (maybe they’re gamers or something?). Destin is described as the COO, Rachel the Director of Registration, and then there’s Chelsea, the VP of Matchmaking, “the main matchmaker.”

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: the clients & intro videos

Nick Friedman “owns his own trash business that he started after college,” Chelsea explains. His roommate and best friend, Omar, is the other client for this episode, and together they own College Hunks That Haul Junk*.

* Side note that part of the gig for the “millionaires” that appear on the show has to be some kind of combination of promotion and “branding awareness” for the stuff that they own or run, right?

Omar Soliman describes himself on his intro video as being 27 years old and living in Tampa, Florida. Also, he explains that he runs “a national junk removal empire” with his best pal, Nick, and has a net worth around $5 million.

Destin says that Omar does not want a woman who is into him for his money, making him an ideal client for The Millionaire’s Club. He gets “paranoid” about it… so, maybe he’s not ideal? Omar wants a wife who is laid back yet wild, with a great sense of humor and who is outgoing and “decisive,” and also… who is drop dead gorgeous, of course.

“Who can live up to these lists?” Patti asks, disgusted.

Chelsea lets us know that Nick tries to come across on his intro video as “thuggish and player-ish.” Nick is also 27 but has half the net worth of his buddy Omar, coming in at $2.5 million.

Patti immediately reacts with a kind of “bro out” characterization, doing a raise the roof-ish style gesture and shouting, “Okay, what up, what up, what?”

Nick also tells us that he played basketball in college and still likes to “hoop it up.” Patti, from the comfort of the office, retorts, “Excuse me, you’re Jewish!” Uh, come on Patti, we’ve got at least one Jewish convert in All-NBA big man Domantas Sabonis of the Sacramento Kings, so back off!

Nick’s also a “butt man,” who decries the tragedy of seeing “a girl with a total, complete package and she has no butt. We call that a nossatal,” which stands for “No ass at all.” Nick did not go on to explain that he has a PhD in Cleverness. Patti lets everyone know that in no way would she “want to play with that penis.”

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: Patti meets the clients

Patti heads over to meet the boys at “Omar’s uncle’s house in town” for reasons that remain unclear. Patti’s main concern is that the pals will want to pick the same girls to date, “which never works.”

Omar tells Patti that his “dream date” would involve “hauling junk with her.” Presumably, this is junk as is trash and not junk as in… what’s in her proverbial trunk, if you can dig. Patti sarcastically notes that “a girl’s gonna spread” for a date like that*.

* It’s a little shocking that The Millionaire Matchmaker airs on basic cable with language like that at times, no?

Patti argues with Omar for a bit, and then decides that she needs to bring in the big guns, which means Matthew Bennett: Life Coach. Patti also lets us know that Omar has “trust issues” with women.

When Patti meets with Nick, she immediately focuses on wanting to cut his hair, which to be fair is a frizzy, mullet-y situation. It also strikes me that Nick has a little bit of a Jewish hip hop Rob Schneider thing going on.

Making copies with the Nickmeister, indeed.

Nick tells Patti that he typically dates what his mother calls “Barbie dolls that aren’t sort of on my intellectual level.” Patti wants to break him of the “Barbie doll habit.”

Patti’s assessment is that Omar is insecure, while Nick is immature (“he goes for the blonde bimbo”).

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: the recruiting session

At the recruiting sesh with a bunch of eligible young ladies, Patti gives out directions such as, “You can’t do your hair like that,” and, “Less ja-ja-ja-ju,” and… more problematically, “I need you less Puerto Rican.”

And: “Do you have a vagina?”

Overall, Patti wasn’t “feeling it” with the group they met with due to an assessed lack of hotness. More “juicy goose-y” is required, as it turns out.

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: life coach session

Meanwhile, Omar gets to meet with Matthew Bennett: Life Coach.

“If you make them sweat for their meal,” Patti explains to Omar, “coochie ain’t gonna get wet, honey. Ain’t gonna happen.” Ah, Patti as ever the erudite charmer.

Matthew Bennett explains that if Omar believes in himself and stops worrying about gold diggers, good things will happen. Or something. Mostly, Patti fumes about Omar wanting to “haul junk” on his first date.

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: the mixer

Cut to the mixer at La Boheme in West Hollywood. Immediately, Omar notes of the “talent” on display, “Check out the chick in red. She is banging.”

Patti reveals that she went deep on her “database” to upgrade the hotness factor for the mixer.

Nick tells Patti that while he didn’t get a haircut as advised, he put gel in it to achieve “Greek god Julius Caesar hair,” mashing up world history and mythologies in one go. Patti fires back with, “It’s a Jew fro, man” (even though she’s attempting to be Nice Patti, she tells us).

Patti declares a Hair Emergency and calls in an Emergency Hair Stylist while the mixer goes on without him, presumably. Finally, Nick emerges with a shorter haircut that he’s miserable about but Patti loves.

In fact, she declares that, “If I was only 20 years younger, he’d be mine.”

Patti, Destin, and Rachel watch the proceedings like scientists conducting an experiment (or generals conducting a war, perhaps?) and eventually decide that Dakota (33, a choreographer from New York) is right for Nick, who also is into Carlie. Omar narrows down his choices to Farah and Rachel as his dating finalists (or whatever).

In the one-on-one mini-date round, Nick finds Dakota to be surprisingly “independent” for his taste. Carlie and Nick do seem to hit it off more, with Nick noting how “young and pretty, open and excited” she is. Omar meanwhile fumbles around with his words on his mini-dates, though he gets on well with Rachel, an SAT tutor.

Back with Patti, she readily agrees that Carlie is a “fine cherry, ready to be popped” for Nick. Neither seem at all fazed by what a bizarre statement this is. Even so, Patti pushes for Dakota. Omar meanwhile expresses that he likes Farah for her wholesomeness but Patti quickly disagrees, stating that he doesn’t want vanilla but instead needs “chocolate chocolate.”

Patti cheerfully announces at some point that she’s glad that Nick no longer sounds like “an Eminem rap video” when he’s talking to the ladies at the mixer, and you want to shout at her, “Just stop.”

In a Bachelor style reveal in front of the large group of women, Nick selects Dakota (which seems quite odd given what we’ve seen thus far, except that Patti was adamant about her) while Omar picks Rachel.

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: Omar and Rachel’s first date

I feel like I should take on Henry Hill’s voiceover from Goodfellas during the scene when he explains that even though he explicitly told Lois (she of the “lucky hat”) to never talk on the phone, what does she do? SHE TALKS ON THE PHONE. “See you in Attica…”

Which is to say that what does Omar do after all of Patti’s admonitions? He rolls up for his big date with Rachel in a College Hunks Hauling Junk dump truck. He’s got a client lined up that needs junk hauled away and everything! Good times.

Rachel seems surprisingly cool about it, to her credit… up until he literally puts her to work hauling old carpets and other junk away from some dude’s house.

“This is a horrible date idea,” Omar finally admits in frustration. But he then attempts to turn things around by taking Rachel to a “private dining room at Il Cielo in Beverly Hills.”

At dinner, Omar attempts to transition the mood from “trashy to classy.” Rachel advises that they could have gone hiking as an alternative to his awful idea.

“Am I just, like, an idiot?” Omar wonders.

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: Nick and Dakota

Nick rolls up in a sports car and a rose in tow, and explains to Dakota what a “gentleMAN” he is.

While Nick’s game is cheesy, heading up to the Hollywood sign and taking in a view of Los Angeles is much more in the wheelhouse of solid first date plans.

At dinner, the two agree that both of their busy schedules and location in different cities are a plus for a potential new relationship, and then they proceed to get kissy face.

The Millionaire Matchmaker, “Omar & Nick”: Post-Date Upshot

Patti checks in with the couples, and is impressed with how Nick handled things with Dakota (particularly that he cut his hair and “dropped the rap talk”).

Omar rates a lunch meeting, and Patti declares that she’s not sure if she’s going to slap or hug him. Patti then lays into him that Rachel hated the hauling junk portion of the date.

With Patti’s coaching, Omar calls Rachel to apologize, and she agrees that she’s amendable to a second date.

In the end of the episode title sequence, we learn that “Nick recently visited Dakota in Puerto Rico while she’s there on business. They are still dating.” And meanwhile, “Rachel decided she was looking for more hunk and less junk.”

So it looks like Patti went one-for-two in this edition of The Millionaire Matchmaker.

The Millionaire Matchmaker – “Omar & Nick”: where are they now?

BusinessNews has a number of updates on the hauling company co-owners, including appearances on a bunch of other reality shows that include Shark Tank, Blue Collar Millionaires, The Pitch (an outstanding AMC show that I wish was still around), and Jobs That Don’t Suck.

We also learn that as of late 2023, “Omar is married and has two lovely children, a boy named Chase and a girl” while Nick “married Jen Love on October 13, 2013, and the couple has four lovely children, three girls and a boy.”
